Promoting Compostable Innovation at the CbDP Annual Meeting
Normec OWS recently participated in the annual meeting of the Compostable by Design Platform (CbDP), an important forum for promoting compostable materials in Europe.
In early March, Sil Nevejans, commercial manager at Normec OWS, and managing director Gunther Van Cauwenberge traveled to the United States for a visit aimed at strengthening internal collaboration and strengthening ties with customers. The trip began with a visit to our U.S. laboratory in Kettering, Ohio, followed by client visits and participation in the “Sustainability in Packaging 2025” conference in Chicago.
At the Kettering laboratory, Sil and Gunther met with Christopher Ecker, managing director of the Ohio laboratory, and Amie Greene, who have played key roles in establishing and expanding our testing capabilities in the U.S. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to align our strategy, exchange insights, and explore new ways to support our customers in North America through high-quality biodegradability and compostability testing.
Reflecting on the visit, Gunther said: “It was great to meet our colleagues in person and discuss and exchange many new ideas to serve and support our customers even better. What an enthusiastic and energetic team, led by Chris. I’m so glad to be part of such a great team!”
After the lab visit, Sil traveled on to Chicago, where she attended the “Sustainability in Packaging 2025” conference, which took place from March 5 through 7. In addition to participating in the event, she visited the headquarters of several key clients and met with them to strengthen ongoing partnerships and explore new opportunities.
This visit to the U.S. reflects Normec OWS’s ongoing commitment to international collaboration, customer engagement, and driving progress in the field of sustainable innovation. By staying in touch with both our global teams and our clients, we continue to deliver science-based solutions that support the transition to a circular economy.
