Reliable air analyses with Summa canisters
Normec supports organisations with air analyses using Summa canisters. This analytical method is suitable for a wide range of applications within environmental monitoring and occupational hygiene.
Our laboratories have extensive analytical capabilities and carry out analyses in accordance with ISO 17025 accredited methods. The scope of accreditation covers more than 65 compounds with detection limits from 0.5 ppbv.
In addition, our in-house logistics service handles the delivery and return of Summa canisters. Thanks to specially designed protective boxes, the canisters are optimally protected during transport.
What is a Summa canister?
A Summa canister is a specially treated stainless steel container used to collect a complete air sample. The canister is evacuated beforehand and gradually fills with air during sampling as soon as the valve is opened.
Unlike many other sampling methods, no separate pump or additional equipment is required. Once sampling is complete, the valve is closed and the canister is returned to the laboratory for analysis.
This simple and reliable method makes Summa canisters suitable for a wide range of air analyses.
Why choose air analysis with a Summa canister?
A Summa canister offers several advantages over other sampling methods, such as Tedlar® bags and sorption tubes.
With a Summa canister, you benefit from:
- You can carry out multiple analyses on the same air sample, even after dilution
- Your samples remain stable for at least 21 days (with the exception of vinyl acetate)
- You do not need to take adsorption efficiency or the selection of suitable sorption tubes into account
- You do not need a pump or additional equipment during sampling
- You can carry out both time-weighted measurements (8-hour TWA) and spot samples
- You can use the same sample for bulk gas analysis
- You can efficiently analyse unknown compounds
Reliable support for your air quality investigations
Whether you want to investigate air quality in a workplace, carry out an environmental monitoring project or analyse unknown volatile substances, Summa canisters offer a reliable and efficient solution.
Normec supports you throughout the entire process: from the delivery of the canisters to laboratory analysis and clear reporting.
