Driving Climate Action Through Science
Normec is proud to be part of the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), through which we align our climate goals with the Paris Agreement. By 2030, we aim to reduce both the direct emissions from our business operations and the indirect emissions from our energy consumption by 42%. We are also committed to reducing emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel- and energy-related activities, supply chain transportation, waste, business travel, and commuting by 52% per euro of value added by 2030.
Our laboratories are supporting this transformation by switching to 100% green electricity, deploying electric vehicles, and digitizing 50% of laboratory processes to reduce paper and ink waste.
These efforts are part of our broader goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040—an ambitious target that reflects our commitment to climate leadership.
Waste Reduction and Circular Thinking
Our waste policy is aimed at creating waste-free offices and laboratories. By 2030, we aim to reduce total operational waste by 30%, including a 75% reduction in residual waste and a 50% reduction in paper consumption. Waste sorting bins, digital workflows, and employee training help us achieve these goals while raising awareness within our teams.
Sustainable Supply Chains
We are also transforming the way we procure materials and services. By 2030, 30% of our procurement will meet sustainability criteria, including supplier commitments to environmental management, fair labor practices, and the principles of the circular economy. Our laboratories are actively involved in this transition and ensure that sustainability is implemented throughout our entire value chain.
Transparency and Accountability
All these efforts are tracked using measurable ESG KPIs and reported annually in our ESG report, in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This ensures transparency for our stakeholders and accountability for our progress.
Together, we are building a future that is not only scientifically sound but also sustainably better.
