Specialist in water sampling and analysis
Normec AWS is an independent company specialising in the sampling and analysis of wastewater, surface water and public bathing waters. We offer a wide range of services in which professionalism, expertise and quality are paramount. For inspection, sampling, laboratory analysis and the calibration of flowmeters, we follow a carefully structured process and, where applicable, work with accredited partners. In this way, we support our clients from sampling right through to reporting. Accreditations and Certifications
Normec AWS is one of the few sampling companies with accreditation for sampling activities. While laboratories have been accredited for analyses for years, accreditation for sampling is still rare. Our quality system and the performance of sampling activities are audited annually by the Dutch Accreditation Council, in accordance with the standards of NEN-EN-ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The accredited activities are specified in our scope (L599); see below.

Normec AWS has an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. The 2015 version of ISO 14001 places even greater emphasis on anticipating and managing potential environmental risks in business operations. EBN Certification issued the certificate with number EBN.ISO.EMS.4142-1.

Normec AWS also has a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. The 2015 version of ISO 9001 emphasizes the importance of customer needs, quality, and continuous improvement. The certificate, numbered EBN.ISO.QMS.4142, was issued by EBN Certification.

To ensure the safety of both your and our employees during project execution, our employees are trained to handle hazardous situations responsibly. In addition to the training they have received, they are also equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment. All of our field staff are therefore VCA-certified, and our company also holds a VCA certificate.

Normec AWS has been accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) for sampling wastewater, swimming and surface water, process water, and drinking water for bacteriological and chemical analysis (as well as in-house field analyses of pH, EC, and oxygen) as specified in the L599 accreditation scope on this website and the RvA website. With this accreditation, we demonstrate that we are a competent and impartial organization. Normec AWS’s quality system is designed to ensure continuous monitoring and documentation of these activities, including a commitment to continuous improvement. The quality of Normec AWS’s other activities is also monitored using this system, even though no accreditation has been sought for those activities.

On 1 January 2024, the long-awaited Environment Act came into force, with a number of significant changes to the regulations surrounding wastewater discharges. Previously, all regulations on discharges were centrally determined by the state, but with the Environment Act we are seeing a shift towards decentralisation.
