The difference between wet and dry calibration
There are two types of calibrations: a dry and a wet calibration.
A wet calibration must be performed once every three years. In the intervening years, the calibration may be done dry. In a wet calibration, the meter is calibrated in the installed situation ("in situ"). In a dry calibration, only the electronics of the meter are checked.
It is also possible to perform an annual wet calibration. Especially in measurement situations where contamination of the meter may occur, an annual wet calibration provides additional assurance about the reliability of the measurements.

Specialist in wet flow meter calibrations
At Normec, we always perform wet calibrations. For this we use a master meter that has been calibrated within the past year by an approved calibration body.
During the wet calibration, water is passed through the system within the measuring range in which the flow meter normally operates. The measured amounts of water from both the flow meter and the master meter are recorded and compared with each other using a data logger.
In addition to the calibration of the meter, we also check the other peripheral equipment of the installation for correct operation. This gives you certainty about the functioning of the entire measuring system.
