Normec OWS is proud to have contributed to the UNLOCK project, which explored the valorisation of poultry feathers into biodegradable materials. The project demonstrated how keratin-rich feathers can be integrated into bioplastics to enhance biodegradation and contribute nutrients back to the soil.

Applications developed within the project include compostable seed trays, mulch films and hydroponic foams, showcasing how agricultural waste streams can be transformed into valuable, circular solutions.

These innovations support the transition toward a more circular and bio-based economy, where material design aligns with sustainable end-of-life pathways.
