On March 14, 2025, Normec OWS, a leading biodegradability & compostability testing organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with FITI Testing & Research Institute (FITI) to support Korean export companies in obtaining biodegradability & compostability certifications. The agreement was formalized at FITI’s headquarters in Seoul, strengthening cooperation in testing, certification, and research.

The signing ceremony brought together Joogyung Yoon, President of FITI, and Sam Deconinck, Director of Business Development at Normec OWS, along with key representatives from both organizations. The partnership aims to enhance biodegradability & compostability testing services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Korea, helping them comply with international environmental regulations.
With extensive expertise in biodegradation, compostability, and environmental testing, Normec OWS assists companies worldwide in obtaining globally recognized certifications. Through this collaboration, both organizations will establish a structured framework for testing and consulting, ensuring that Korean exporters can meet the biodegradability & compostability standards required by various international markets.
Beyond testing & assistance in certification, Normec OWS and FITI will work together on international research projects in biodegradation, biogas, and related fields. They also plan to engage in global standardization efforts, including participation in ISO initiatives, to further drive sustainability advancements.
