On 9 May 2025, Normec OWS participated in activities linked to International Compost Awareness Week, contributing to global conversations on composting and sustainable materials.
As part of the programme, Mahya Wood joined a panel discussion at WasteExpo, where industry experts explored the topic of laboratory versus field testing for compostable materials. The discussion emphasised that controlled lab testing provides robust, standardised data, while field testing offers real-world validation under practical composting conditions.
Together, both approaches create a stronger, more credible foundation for sustainability claims. The exchange highlighted the importance of combining scientific rigour with real-environment performance data to build trust among regulators, composters, brands, and consumers.
