The study brings together input from more than 60 experts across NGOs, academia, and the packaging value chain, along with additional research and analysis conducted by the Foundation.
Normec OWS contributed through a dedicated technical review of the sections on biodegradability and compostability. The aim was to ensure that the information presented is accurate, consistent, and not biased toward specific materials.
As part of this work, Normec OWS:
- reviewed the use of terminology related to biodegradability and compostability
- developed an overview of existing home-compostability and biodegradation standards and certifications (included in Appendix II)
- contributed practical insights based on decades of testing experience
This contribution reflects Normec OWS’ role in supporting scientifically grounded discussions around packaging materials and their end-of-life.
